What's your favourite thing to do on a Sunday?

Go for a leisurely brunch. I'm a sucker for the well-stocked buffets hosted by swish resort hotels; the spread at the Twin Palms is legendary. After I digest, I'll go for a nice long late afternoon massage.

How would you spend a long weekend?

For me, it would have to be diving in the waters off Phuket or Ko Tao, on the Gulf side. Sometimes I head out with the dive boats and just snorkel — there are so many spots with great visibility around the extended coral reefs and enclosed bays.

What's your idea of a good night out?

Well, Phuket has no shortage of wild nightlife, especially around Patong, and that can be fun — in limited doses. More often I prefer good conversation at one of the many tasty restaurants dotted about — I'm still working my way around the island, though The Boathouse is a particular favourite.

User comments
Hi there, Do you have a feel for the level of safety around Thailand at the moment - including Phuket? I understand that although the obvious politically inspired civil unrest seems to have settled, it remains in some of the regions - especially the possibility of terrorist activity. I am travelling late March 2009, but need to decide now if I am to change destinations. Govt is suggesting not to travel unless you have to. What do you think? Many thanks for your help.
