There are numerous small resorts up and down the
Yasawa chain, some of them extremely basic. A good plan would be to cruise right through to the catamaran's last stop at Nacula Island near the famous
Blue Lagoon. You should reserve your Yasawa accommodations in advance, especially if you want a
bure (cottage). Otherwise, you could end up in a dormitory or having to pitch your tent.
Oarsman's Bay Lodge on
Nacula and
Nanuya Island Resort on the
Blue Lagoon are two of the top places to stay. Backpackers are well taken care of at the small resorts on
Nacula and
Tavewa, but the backpacker camps on
Nanuya Lailai can be overcrowded and dirty.
On your way back to Nadi, you could do some Yasawa island hopping. Accommodations on Naviti, Waya, Wayasewa, or Kuata islands are not deluxe but they're quite adequate if you have bure reservations. Scuba diving, snorkelling, swimming, and hiking are the main activities in the Yasawas. The glistening white beaches, colourful reefs, dramatic cliffs and open, grassy hilltops make this chain of islands the most scenic in Fiji. To avoid missing your flight, spend your last night at a Nadi hotel.
