Jules Lund is a long-term reporter for Channel Nine's Getaway show and the host of the Logies. He's also an avid snowboarder and outdoor adventure fan with an ongoing love affair with New Zealand. We've asked him to contribute his travel tips and stories for those thinking of heading over the ditch for a bit of winter fun this year.

Jules's favourite ski/snowboard spots

My favourite place to go snowboarding is Treble Cone, near Wanaka — I love it there because there's two areas, with a four point five mile run from the top of the mountain. It's like a road, and it zigzags, down and feels like it goes on forever. So you can hurtle down on your board then stop, have a rest and a chat, pace it out, and the day just seems so much more rewarding.

My mate learnt to snowboard there so there's something for everyone. I'm intermediate, so I was hitting plenty of good runs, while he was learning, and he actually learnt how to snowboard in just one day there. There's just a good atmosphere on the slopes, and you know you've hit the right spot.
