Stay in fancy hotels

1. Travel by limousine

If you're a true rock star you typically eschew ordinary transport, travelling instead by personally driven limo, complete with chilled champagne, music, TV and tinted windows so people really squint when you roll past. Why not be a real rock-star and book one for your airport transfer?

Bling Tip: Request something weird, such as packets of marshmallows or peanut butter sandwiches, be stocked in the coolers. And always wear huge shades.

2. Be seen dining on quails eggs

You don't need to travel far to find some flashy fine dining for you and your posse. Sydney's Aria and Otto attract the likes of Pink when she's in town, and Melbourne’s Vue de Monde a favourite for Cate Blanchett, and quite possibly the most expensive restaurant in Australia. At Vue customers are given no menu, the waiter simply tailors a degustation of French delicacies to their preferences. All three restaurants are places to be seen, but be warned, take your credit card!

3. Add some bling to the details

If you're really looking to add some bling to even the smallest of details, you'll have a bathroom already stocked with La Prairie and La Mer products. La Prairie's Skin Caviar only retails for a mere $1050! If that's not enough, add some bling to your lashes with the Shu Uemura diamond-studded lashes originally created for Madonna, which RRP for US$1000.

4. Hire a personal stylist

Ever wondered how certain celebs stay out of the worst dressed lists and manage to look fantastic even after back-to-back international flights? The A-list all have personal stylists, also known as image consultants or personal shoppers. After getting your colours and swatches done, they'll present you with the perfect selection of cuts, colours and fabrics to accentuate all your positives, no matter the occasion.

5. Sunbake on a yacht

If you really want to increase your chances of getting snapped by the paparazzi, share the waters with the Packers and Murdochs by taking yourself off on regular cruises of the Harbour on your personal yacht. For a tidy sum you can see the Harbour Bridge from the deck of your own privately chartered yacht, Moet in hand.

6. Visit Cannes

Aside from sunbaking on the stunning Cote D'Azur and being driven around in an open-top Maserati, use all the connections you have to attend the famous film festival, held each May. Shopping in Cannes is also pure bling; stock up on jewellery, and take a spin in a luxury car — the Rolls Royce dealership is based in Cannes, if that's any hint. Keep your eye out for Monaco's royalty while you're on the French Riviera, too.

7. Fly to Vegas in a private jet

What could be more bling than Vegas? With almost 2000 licenced gambling venues and more coin movement than you can poke a stick at, those really passionate about living bling fly there on a whim on their private jet and stay at one of the 2440 luxurious rooms at Caesar's Palace Hotel Casino. Money takes on a different perspective, doesn't it?

8. Splash some cash on Rodeo Drive

Made famous by music and film alike, the glitzy Rodeo Drive is the favourite of bling celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, P Diddy and Britney Spears. Warning: take your credit card! Though Rodeo Drive, located between Beverly Wiltshire Boulevarde and Santa Monica Boulevarde, is only three blocks long, but holds such holy bling retailers such as Gucci, Armani, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Ralph Lauren, Cartier, and Tiffany. Finish with lunch at the Beverly Hills Hotel, where you might catch Jennifer Aniston sipping on a smoothie in the Cabana Club.

9. Stay in a super expensive hotel room

You don't necessarily need to trash one, but if you're serious about doing as much bling as you can, you'll at least know the difference in room service styles between your Hiltons and your Four Seasons. The Beverly Hilton, in Beverly Hills, boasts the most star sightings, and if you're serious about behaving bling you'll order something not on the menu in the middle of the night, to be delivered to your Penthouse Suite, which costs the equivalent of a month's rent in Australia.

10. Hire a bodyguard

How else are you going to keep your rocks safe as you swan around town? For pure bling effect, you can't beat a bodyguard. The perfect accompaniment to a public appearance or if you're just travelling incognito and don't wish to be bothered. Most bodyguards stake out your locale for safety issues before you enter, and are as essential to the bling lifestyle as the bling itself.
