Best destinations for your summer fling

Best destinations for your summer fling

Maybe it's the sun, maybe it's the sea, or maybe it's the sultry weather that forces us to wear minimal attire that's got us in a trance, but nothing beats a good summer holiday fling.

To help steam things up we've rounded up the top six travel hotspots perfect for finding a little summer lovin' these holidays.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Hot beats and hot beach bodies are the first things to come to mind when anyone utters Rio's name. Throw in lush mountains, miles of breathtaking beaches and the most colourful and sensual street party around — Carnaval — and you've got the perfect ingredients for a steamy summer romance.

Just like the bronzed Cariocas clad in skimpy swimwear and the Havaianas strolling the promenade under the watchful eye of Christ the Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro will woo you, seduce you and then leave you totally breathless. Lindo maravilhoso!

Where to stay: Book in at Copacabana Palace and make sure you get a room overlooking Copacabana Beach (people watching doesn't get much prettier than this!).

Havana, Cuba

The home of salsa, Havana is one hot, hot, hot destination. Just the name alone sounds sexy. An intoxicating city bubbling with sensuality, the temperature is always sizzling here. Take a rumbling ride through the city's streets in a classic chrome-laden Chevy, indulge in the legend of Hemingway with a daiquiri at El Floridita or join the habaneros and watch the sunset from 'Havana's sofa', otherwise known as The Malecón.

Better yet, let a luscious local take the lead and salsa your way across the dance floor at Tropicana, the pre-revolution open-air nightclub where Carmen Miranda once performed.

Where to stay: Perched high on a cliff overlooking the Malecon, Hotel Nacional is the place to relax. Just make sure you do it in style with a mojito in one hand and cigar in the other.

Las Vegas, USA

Another city worth taking a gamble on for love this summer is Las Vegas. A place of 24/7 hedonism, quickie weddings, cavernous casinos and blinding neon lights, the original 'Sin City' has made being bad ever so sexy. The bachelor and bachelorette party destination of choice long before Bradley Cooper and rest of the wolf pack descended on the city for The Hangover, the party never stops here. So make sure you pack your dancing shoes and get ready to start singing: Viva Las Vegas!

Where to stay: For anyone wanting to recreate their own Hangover, Caesars Palace is the place. But don't think you can skip out on any damages. Reception will have your number and credit card.

Bali, Indonesia

An impossibly beautiful land of wide beaches, elaborate Hindu temples, terraced rice paddies, and magical mist-cover mountains, its little wonder the sun never sets on romance in Bali. Spend the morning at the pool or on the beach, the afternoon dining and shopping along Seminyak Road, and the evening club hopping in Kuta. It's hot, but after a few Bintangs and a dip in the pool, you won't even notice.

Where to stay: Book a week on the sand at the Anantara Resort in Seminyak. From taking a dip in the infinity pool to luxuriating in the day spa to lounging on one over-sized day beds at the SOS Supper Club — voted by Conde Nast as one of the hottest drinking spots in Bali, you don't have to leave the hotel to have fun — it's all right here for you.

Cape Town, South Africa

With both the Indian and Atlantic oceans lapping at its shores, Cape Town is certainly the place to go for sun, surf and sand this summer. But another great 's' it's popular for is that sexy summer fling. The best place to strut your stuff is Camps Bay. The Miami Beach of South Africa is where sun-kissed surfers and bikini models rub shoulders with the über chic and nouveau riche.

When the sun does finally set there's still plenty of after dark fun to be had. So sling on something sexy and follow your nose (and your heart) down Long Street.

Where to stay: Stay close to the action at Urban Chic, a plush new minimalist hotel located in the city centre.

Byron Bay, Australia

Bikinis, boardies, bronzed bodies and miles of breathtaking beaches — Byron Bay is the definition of the sexy summer singles scene in Australia. Located on the most easterly tip of the country, this mesmerising coastal hamlet attracts everyone from laid-back surfers and foreign backpackers to celebrities and cashed-up urbanites.

Whether you want to soak up the sun and the atmosphere on Main Beach, stretch your legs on the five kilometres up Cape Byron Headland Reserve to the lighthouse or dance to dawn in one throbbing nightclubs , Byron is a great place to indulge in a summer fling.

Where to stay: Hidden under a canopy of sub-tropical rainforest near Tallow Beach, the Byron at Byron is the best — and sexiest — place to stay in the Bay.

The Sarann in Koh Samui is one of the most beautiful places. You get a romantic and sensual feel with the jacuzzi suite, infinity pool and restaurant located on the rocks looking out to the ocean and the main street of Koh Samui. Such a vibrant and happening place, so much to see and take in, clubs, go go dancers, massages on the beach and the best food i have ever had. Best place for couples, or if your looking for some summer loving, plenty of tourists flock the beach and night scene!
