More than 1,400 redheads from 52 countries gathered in Breda, in the Netherlands, this week for the annual Roodharigendag (or Redhead) Festival.

The event hosts cultural activities, fashion shows and art exhibitions devoted to the colour red.

"It's a weird feeling to not stand out. It's good," one ginger-haired visitor told the BBC.

"When people come together as redheads, they just look at each other. They have a certain bond."
