I moved to the Gold Coast in the '70s and grew up within pushbike distance of Surfers Paradise.
My first real job was as a cadet journalist at the Gold Coast Sun, covering music and the arts. After stints in marketing and PR for shopping centres (I'm now also an expert shopper!), managing art and craft markets, and looking after footy season pass-holders for a ticketing company, I now write about, and style, posh homes for magazines.
What's your favourite thing to do on a Sunday?
During summer, it has to be attending
Nippers at Southport Surf Club. After a bacon and egg muffin, I would surf and Darren, my partner, would take "Nipper Dad" duty with my stepson Jack. Then we'd
walk the dogs, visit the Broadwater for a swim and ice-cream, or enjoy a sushi lunch at Ace Wasabi, Chevron Island.
During the winter my boys have rugby, so I might snoop around my favourite outlet boutiques and catch up on some reading.
How would you spend a long weekend?
Broken Head, Byron Bay to watch whales, surf, see the
Cape Gallery and eat at the
Balcony.
What's your idea of a good night out?
I like to do the cheap hotel/dinner/band combo, or take my son to a
hip gallery, drink Shanghai beer (me, not him) and flirt harmlessly with Norwegian artists (again, me, not him!).
