The most generous Germans...

The most generous Germans...

I'd never even heard of Uberlingen when this cycling adventure had begun. Situated on the edge of Lake Konstanz on the German side of the Swiss border, I can now report it's really beautiful and I can't recommend it enough.

On our first day in town we were whisked off to a free lunch on the lake with Reinhard, a close family friend of my teammate Daniel, and a local who has been dedicated to helping the less fortunate.

Reinhard organised for us to camp at a school that he himself helped develop in order to give people who were both mentally and physically handicapped a place to shine. After meeting a few of the students we were told that the following day the students of the school would ride their bikes around a course in order to raise money for our cause.

The following day we arrived at the starting post and were greeted by around 20 students. They were all keen to meet us and enthusiastic about the charity we're supporting. The most touching thing about it, though, was their kindness — these kids needed help and support themselves, but they went out of their way to lend a hand to our effort to prevent child trafficking.

I've often found in my travels it's those that have the least that are prepared to offer the most. The team of students from Camphill Shulgeinshaften raised an awesome staggering $880. I'm so thankful.

And I'll definitely be back, not only to explore the incredible historic architecture, but to meet some of the most beautiful people I've come across anywhere in the world.

1500km down, and just 24,500km to go! 'Til next time, auf wiedersein :)
