Branson's new toy: an underwater plane

Necker island

British squillionaire Sir Richard Branson has just given the international glitterati another reason to visit his private Necker Island resort in the Caribbean. He's unveiled a new plaything called the Necker Nymph, which he's calling an 'underwater plane' (er, isn't that known as a submarine?)

Richard's new toy, which will be available to guests at the $27,000-a-week island, can take three people underwater for up to two hours.

"Gliding on the water’s surface like an aeroplane on a runway, one of the three pilots will operate the joystick to smoothly dive down, and the thrilling experience begins" says the blurb. "Uncover ancient shipwrecks, fly side-by-side with dolphins, or spyhop with whales; the options are endless."

Endless, that is, as long as you have 26 grand a week to spend on the hire of the sub, and another $90,000 for seven nights on the Necker Belle, a 100-foot luxury catamaran.

Who do you think the first A-lister to book the new toy will be? I'm guessing David Beckham — we know he's a fan of Necker Island as he booked himself and Posh in there for a week to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary last year. And for a chap who's fond of fast cars and posing on the beach, an underwater plane ought to be just the thing. And if Becks isn't up for it, perhaps Daniel Craig will jump at the chance to play Bond for real this time…

another person with too much money. who really cares he shouldnt be called Sir hes just another rich guy with his toys pmsl
Regarding 1st comment, Sir Richard Branson was not a "self-made" millionaire, alot of people fail to read the fine print. His father left him a trust with plenty of dollars sitting inside, this is how he began his empire. Not singling you out just for future reference!
It's not new, it's been done and it is called a different look to a submarine...!!!
This guy really is a legend lol. What do normal rich *** do with thier money? Nothing except either try to get richer, noticed by the media, or some other self serving ego tour through dumbo land. Richard, forgive me, Sir Richard is or should be an inspiration to us all-- self made multi multi who still just does fun stuff that will one day change the way we all live, who else but the Russian and Yanky government seriously tried to get us into space? A private citizen from the UK, of course! lol I can't say what a legend enough times! I sure would love to have even a tiny bit of this guy's drive. Can't wait to see what next marvel comes out of this dudes' garage! It's like we have some actual, real life super hero like Ironman or something tinkering away coming up with awesome new things by using his own hard and smartly earnt riches.
