Ryanair confirms $18 flights to US from Europe

Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary

Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary has confirmed the airline plans to offer flights to America for less than £10.

Speaking at the Irish Hotels Federation conference, Mr O'Leary said that Ryanair would offer €10 flights (around $18.50) to the United States and US$10 flights from the US to Europe, though passengers would pay extra for everything from meals to baggage, reports the Belfast Telegraph.

The airline - which is arguabaly the world's most successful budget airline - has a business plan for launching a transatlantic service, but it will take four to five years to get the planes needed.

A full service would be expected to operate within six months of Ryanair getting the aircraft it needs.

The flights would operate from 12 to 14 major European cities to 12 to 14 top US cities.
