Bali Girl flew into Auckland, a short three-hour flight from the east coast of Australia.
Bali Girl thought she was only there for a layover but that was plenty of time to be treated to pampering in the suite of Auckland's Sky City Grand, and a wonderful night of dinner and cocktails.
The next day she had just enough time to hit the shops and pick up some fashionable Kiwi threads in areas like Britomart, High Street and Vulcan Lane.
Back at the airport, Bec was told that there will be no Bali, but a road trip instead. From here she set off in a campervan to see the sights around The Coromandel which is approximately a 2.5 hour drive from Auckland International Airport. Around the area it is recommended to spend a few days enjoying the spectacular Cathedral Cove on Hahei Beach and Hotwater Beach, where you can have a warm, natural spa in the sand two hours either side of low tide.
To break up the road trip, Bali Girl stopped in at Whitianga's thermal springs, The Lost Spring, before heading towards the incredible Rhythm & Vines festival. Nestled in amongst the vineyards in Gisborne, it is one of the very first places in the world to see the sunrise.
The festival exceeded all expectations and after a massive New Year's Eve, Bali Girl said goodbye to the camper and flew from Gisborne to Auckland (just 45 minutes).
