It's a scream: world's tallest airport slide in Singapore

It's a scream: world's tallest airport slide in Singapore

Forget duty-free shopping…this is the most fun thing you can do in an airport

It's the ride of a lifetime…and you're not even in the air yet. Singapore's tallest slide, The Slide@T3, opened at Changi Airport just a few months ago, quickly nabbing the title of the "world's tallest slide in an airport" (it's still unclear as to whether any airport claimed that mantle in the first place, but let's go with it).

The mega-twisty 12-metre-high (or four-storey-tall) indoor slide lets you slide at speeds of up to six metres per second. Check out the making of the slide, and see how it feels for this fun-loving group of friends in Changi Airport's slide promo video:

Changi Airport may well be the coolest airport in the world, what with its own Balinese-themed swimming pool, movie theatre, and six lavish gardens, including the Butterfly Garden, which has its own six-metre waterfall.

We totally love Changi's slide, but you've got to give honourable mention to the other airports that offer quirky facilities to allay your boredom. For instance, the Incheon International Airport in South Korea has a golf course, spa, indoor gardens and a casino; while Amsterdam's Airport Schiphol has its own (gasp!) mortuary (for the travelling dead).

The Singaporeans really get the meaning of fun. Did you know they run a ghostbusting tour on haunted houses? Check that out, and more, right here.

We've also collected a gallery of the Top 10 World Airports. Does Changi make the cut?

Would you take the slide to relieve your boredom at Changi Airport?

Way to go for Singapore!! if only maybe some of the Australian airports would follow suit and do some major upgrades to their airports! I dont know about the rest of Australia but Perth airport seriously lacks any appeal and things to do!! Singapore is truly a beautiful place!
I went Iooking for the Hard Rock Cafe (Singapore has two) only to find that it's in the passenger only area. I had to content myself with merely using the foodcourt with many others who had come to Changi Airport just for a meal. I doubt people trapse out to Melbourne Airport for an outing, especially given the price of parking, even if they did have attractions.
you must be kidding me, what will they think of next? Looks like the Shangi airport is turning into a real theme park! Looks like infrastructure experts in Singapore are very smart. I recently found out about the new pool at the top of a hotel. I already knew about the Singapore Eye (wheel). I guess we haven t seen the last of it. The idea of a slide in an airport is kind of odd but it looks like fun, so long as airport travellers don t get stuck into it to the point of missing their next flight! Fred
In 2004 I spent 8 hours at Changi Airport and didn't get bored for a minute!! I can only imagine how much fun I'd have there now with that slide!! I might catch a flight over there and just stay at the airport for a day or two! Love it.
